Glenn has been writing and playing music ever since seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and has spent the past five decades performing in clubs, music festivals, concert halls, on radio and t.v., including MTV, NPR, WNEW, KRock, Good Morning America, Vin Scelsa’s Idiot’s Delight, the Uncle Floyd Show, the Falcon Ridge Festival, and Sid Bernstein Presents. He has written and produced music for Showtime, The Movie Channel, PBS, A&E and worked as a jingle writer for Kevin Gavin Productions, Suzanne Ciani and Richard Lavsky Music.
Glenn studied with Pulitzer Prize and Oscar-winning composer John Corigliano at the Manhattan School of Music and was the recipient of the Jon Wolley Composition Award for his orchestral work, Urban Landscapes, which was premiered by the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra.
The Hudson Valley Philharmonic premiered his orchestral work, Falling From Grace in 1995 and in 1998 commissioned him to compose Revolution No. 1, featuring Gee Mancini on Dobro. In 2001, a selection from his string quartet, Short Stories, was premiered by the Loma Mar String Quartet (who have worked extensively with Paul McCartney) at Pacem in Terris in Warwick, NY.
Glenn’s production credits involve numerous recordings for artists including Tired Angels, Babel Hounds, Big Cow, Oxford Depot, Marty Koppel, Tony Penn and Chip Murray.
In October 2013, Glenn began a new project, Minute by Minute, composing and recording one minute of music each day—in essence a musical diary that reflects his creative/emotional state at that particular moment. The pieces are written and recorded very quickly to capture the instinctive, visceral and raw qualities of the performance.
Over the past few years Glenn has been working with film maker and artist, Max Vonderhorst, and has scored many of his films, including The Plague and Individuation.
Since 2017, Glenn and Gerard Mancini have participated in the RPM Challenge, an annual challenge to musicians to write and record an album during the month of February. Their 5 releases under the name, Cruel Moon, can be found here.
Glenn is currently performing The Concert for George as a member of The Dark Horses, a 9-piece band celebrating the music of George Harrison. They’ve been performing at The Falcon, Daryl’s House, the Stanhope House, the Darress Theatre, Towne Crier, and many outdoor festivals to sold-out SRO audiences. During the pandemic they filmed videos for Here Comes the Sun, All Things Must Pass, All You Need is Love and Happy Xmas.
Glenn is also a member of Shoot the Moon, a dynamic trio featuring vocalist Pattie Gordon and guitarist Gee Mancini presenting familiar songs in a unique and sometimes surprising way.
Some recent instrumental compositions include, Magnificent Desolation for jazz orchestra that was also visualized my film maker Max Vonderhorst, and Drowning Not Waving composed for 9 saxophones and flute for multi-instrumentalist, Mike Pacer.
Glenn (keyboards), Gee Mancini (guitars) and Mike Pacer (saxophones, flute) began a remote musical dialogue during the COVID19 pandemic that began in 2020 and continues under the moniker, AMP, an instrumental ensemble with bass player, Jeff Mullaney and drummer Ron Harsch.
